On my 'mandatory' blog surf of friends' sites before I face the daily uphill drudge of preparation for the exams, I didn't get past the first one
"We are called by God to be faithful, not successful."
A single line that put into perspective all I've been struggling with, all I've been trying to do on my own, all I've been worrying about and losing nights of sleep over. me me me
"I will take care of you, I have your best interests at heart, I know you through and through. And that's why you can trust that I will hold you in the palm of my hand"
That's what I heard when I read the line: the reason why we can be faithful, why we can receive and let go of success, why we don't have to wait until we attain something to rest. I think it doesn't mean to stop working...rather to remember that our lives hold a larger purpose which we cannot lose when we are faithful. All things work together for the good of those who love God.
I guess if we knew all our successes and failures at the start how can life be exiciting?
Then, as if on cue, the theme song for Hercules plays over my headphones:
And a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be
"We are called by God to be faithful, not successful."

But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is the measured by his heart
