he's sitting at his usual place. And I at mine.
And I just want to tell him how much of his hurt I understand how I know that when you're down in those depths there seems no way out when you think of loneliness and like the rest of us think of the only possible out how no one can reach you and you don't want no one to reach you and you think no one wants to reach you and you want someone just please anyone please to reach out for
But I don't. I don't know how.
And so I sit here, because there seems to be nothing else I am able to do but be a presence, to be present, to pray that at least feeling his sorrow can take part of it away.

Minus the youth choir I might have been the youngest at the Divine Mercy prayer session cum talk cum Eucharistic Celebration tonight. and the hall was far from empty, oh no. I'd wager over a hundred or two. The Polish priest gave an enriching lesson on fulfilling the prayer to the Divine Mercy and the meaning of mercy, using, naturally, the parable of the Good Samaritan.

Resonance
Just back from Dre's performance at the Esplanade. It was great! catchy pop tunes (especially liked the rendition of Desiree's Fire, and I heard the group of 6 only got hold of it a couple of days before), upbeat jazz AND classical (rare, but they pulled it off!) and, wonder of wonders, Audrey doing a Cantonese solo! *wolf-calls*
All acapella style.
They're going to perform tomorrow (27 July) again, so if you're around, or love music, do: head to the Esplanade's indoor Concourse (big space with installation art right smack at the heart of the esplanade lobby) for a 7.30pm or 8.30pm show. It's absolutely free, plus they've got comfy seats.
(btw, I only endorse good music, so trust me!)
*double take* then again, I did bring up BSB in the last entry....but this one's different! Home-grown students with a flair.
Gin had a soulful voice, and pulled the solos off well, deep alto voice that set the mood for those two pieces. Simon had spot-on whistling, and a nice deep baritone voice, which went well with the higher parts. Loads of good eye contact with fellow singers too, which gave a good presentation of harmony (in all aspects). Dre, you rock my socks *hahahaha* with the sop. part: was that an A? and getting comfortable with the stage, esp. at your solos! Clear voice that resonated through, with catchy accompaniment (good job on the arrangement of scores).
A big grateful thanks to Matt too, who didn't kill me for telling him the wrong time. Wrong i.e. 7 hours too early. *beeeg oops* so we both waited...and waited..but! got to see Kym Ng and Sharon Au and Key Elements perform at the Esplanade concert hall at no charge (not with Kym and Sharon) and lots of food (Marina Square has been renovated and is now filled with a gazillion food outlets)
walking for 7 hours. good nite.

flashback
hmm. I see what you mean. well here goes...
(last) Thursday
The Island opens! And Matt and I went to catch it at Cine..not bad not bad. One could say it's a statement on cloning, perhaps even abortion. My bro went to catch it today (Monday), and he's really impressed by the sequence, not least the action takes I'm sure. Ewan McGregor, Mr Obi-Wan and Big-Fish, polished off any cliche lines with finesse and a drop of Scottie accent. An ariel view of the lab reminded me of a similar scene in Matrix, when the camera takes in an overview of the embryos...No spoilers here, don't worry. My bro. was laughing at innocence of L6E and J2D, but his friend said, "Not by the end of the show they're not" *wink*
(last) Friday
Met up with a friend I made online.
wait, stop there.
It's not as dodgy as it sounds.
My mum knows his mum and him and...
just trust me. trustworthy. I mean, he even handed me his precious Lumix. but oh boi it's precious.
Thanks for signing!
Ma and I headed to Growth session at SFX after that. ex-SFX. Fr. Larry Faraon (Philippines) was really hilarious, spicing up his talk with 'lil stories.
Praise and Worship. I still have questions. but perhaps some things cannot be black-here-white-there.
Saturday
bum.
I was told meeting was changed to 2pm, and since I woke up at 2pm and got the message at 2pm I decided to stay at home at 2pm. But it wasn't at 2pm in the end. What happened? No matter, no worries; I had a wonderful day with my family, especially with my bro. There's so much to say, lots I wanna give.
Sunday
The afternoon with most of my cousins in Suntec! Because my uncle produced a huge family tree and sent it to The Heritage Board, we were one of the 10 families (or rather, clans) there running for Singapore's Biggest Family. Didn't win (if you're wondering, the biggest clan was a Tan family) but meeting my childhood playmates for the first time again this year altogether made my day (and we were happy with our consolation packet drinks and movie tickets, just like little kids)
Monday
Went out with ma to AMK for lunch: usual hawker food beats steak, pies, fries and peas any day! Bak chor mee and Yong Tau Fu today. AMK library is looking comfy and enticing.
Mum made Briyani Rice and Papadam. yum! All in all a food feast day.
Was flicking channels...and hit MTV when suddenly, someone who looks like AJ was posing. cut to next sequence...Nick? a flash of Brian, is that Kevin and Howie too? They have a new video out! Incomplete, and Artist of the Month to boot!
Ok, yes, maybe I'm still a Backstreet fan. ouch.
Couldn't sleep, watched Gothika (Halle Berry). It reeks of Sixth Sense ...just like Secret Window had wisps of Hide and Seek. Maybe there's only so much you can do for horror films.
'They've come back for your help' and 'The evil is within'.
By the way, at all the potentially scary sequences (this is when the creepy music plays or when the protagonist walks into a dark room/corridor/basement) I look away.

walpurgisnacht
the Friendster 'joint horoscopes' make me laugh.
and this...
"You're both used to being leaders, but that might be more confusing than it is helpful now... "
appears when I click onto a particular person's page; makes me giggle, chuckle, chortle, gaffaw, throw my head back and heartily roar.
Laughter: a veil one wears to prevent the direct perception of truth.
Martha, Martha....
And what am I doing looking at Friendster pages at 4 in the morning? Answer: I ran out of blogs to read. how sad.
Maybe the larger portion of my mind i.e. the unconscious has reasoned that since waking up prefigures the onset of my sinus, I should not wake up so as to prevent an itchy-runny cum blocked nose the next day.

do you write what you want or do you write what people want to read?
I guess even though it may start off with the former it gets difficult when you've become a sensation.
Read a blog which was heavily and persistently on the topic of Death. Which is inevitable, of course (both the subject and the blog), but perhaps rather dark for my palate...palette. I've often thought myself as a half-empty-glass person, but I think this is more empty glass. Even if they (the entries) were stories, which I appreciate and even applaude, since I enjoy savouring them too, the essential subject is a mirror of the mind: you can't write about something and not be thinking it.
Met my best friend yesterday; us the gourmet pair had oyster mee sua/octopus tacopaci/chicken skin. okie, it's not exactly from a gourmet restaurant, but hey, I hadn't had these for 10 months and I'm calling it gourmet food. Then again, another had more exotic food in Japan. Another thing: if you're free next tuesday at 12.45pm, go down to the esplanade concert hall to watch her (and her group) sing jazz...a capella. it's free!
Just back from seeing Chris Evans flame on. Yes, that's his name shi, and you'd prob. stand a chance since he's only 3 years older. whoa, so is Jessica Alba.
Even though Gerrie had to work the next day, I'm glad she came to meet us: we had a good cheesecake each (at Karen's favourite hangout, though she couldn't come) New York New York and Oreo. I think the original is always better.
jon, when U finish flirting with legal documents come look for us k.
baby where were u?

Rod Stewart's 'Faith of the Heart'
It's been a long day.
Woke up aching all over, having slept from 4-8. so I tried sleeping again. This time, I woke at 11 with puffy and tearing eyes, a non-stop-sneezing-runny-nose, and a bad mood. What some would call the wrong side of the bed. Was close, very close to giving up, to calling poon and telling him I'd not be able to make the prayer session; since I couldn't sing, speak, or worse, perhaps end up passing the bug, I didn't see the point.
I prayed about it. And went down.
Somehow I had enough energy to last til night: evening was babysitting for my parents' friends' kids (ranging from 3-12 years old) at my place while they had a prayer session.
At first it was so awkward. My room was bare (all things kept away so they'll remain dust-free for the usual interim 9 months) and I couldn't think of anything to do with the 3 children who were in my room looking uncomfortable with me. The 2 younger ones were scared (of strangers i.e. me) and didn't even want to come into the room.
But somehow, it began to ease up with a couple of questions, a little sharing, soon, a mini game of table-tennis with no table, the appearance of their 2 "My Little Ponies" which prompted me to open boxes and dig up my own from 18 years ago, rounds of potato chips and chocolates, 2 rounds of Uno cards....The night ended with all 5 of them happily chatting away, bouncing on my bed, clambering up and pretending to fall down, drawings of themselves on torn-off pages of my old diary strewn on the floor.
I understand better what it means that children can teach us lessons.
After a good bath, and a good mop of the packet-drink-spill-stain on my bedroom floor, even the energy to give thanks to My Strength comes from Him. What great abounding energy it is, to express my deepest gratitude to the one who saw me through it all.
There is one I must affirm. She was there to listen to my complaints, about the runny nose, the blurry eyes, the horrid coughs, the false moves. She herself had to prepare for 20, the session, the ambience, the food, the arrival, her own health, the cleaning-up. She gave me comfort, and searched for none herself; she did not complain at all.
Thank you, mum.

oh this is bad.
I have a premonition.
out of the blue.
and if it's true I'll know my other premonitions are too.
I really hope it's not.

Funny how
we leave the psychiatrist's room feeling even more depressed than when we entered. (I just noticed how the word 'psychiatrist' has my name in it)
(-_-)
Perhaps because it confirms the diagnosis that 'you are depressed and need help', a label that you found yourself suddenly wearing, although there had been no depressing circumstances in between entering and leaving the room to alter your mood.
Suddenly, you're different. Depressed, they say, showing symtoms, they say, abnormal, different from the usual, normal mode people are commonly in.
They're wrong, though. What is 'normal', 'usual', 'common'?
What is the common man, or normality of life?
This is it: a struggle, hopes for, dashed disappointments, raised expectations. We all get depressed one time or another. Let me change the 'or' to 'and'.
Of course, the clinical definition of depression is a prolonged state you find yourself in and have difficulty finding enjoyment in what you had previously found a solace. However, clinical research has also found depression to be common, present in many, if not a majority.
So there is no need to be depressed because you've been diagnosed depressed. You are not alone.
In fact, you will never be alone.
Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest.
(because life is full of paradoxes):
Continue to struggle, wherever you are, to find rest. To find "Me".
Our hearts are restless Oh Lord, until they rest in You.
(St. Augustine)

rest
I have not the words to express how much these words mean.
May they mean something to you too; as it penetrated my skin, held my heart and resonated in my mind, let it do the same, my friend.
Jesus exclaimed: 'Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.'

destiny's child style 'question'
Do you get depressed after watching Smallville, O.C. and the like?
I'm sincerely curious, because I've noticed....not depression, but a sinking feeling when the credits roll. Either Lana/Clarke/Lex/ Chloe/ Summer/Seth/Ryan/Marissa do their job really well that I can't wait to see them at their job again next week or there is an amount of escapism in watching these shows. An escapism that escapes you when the hour's up and
snap back to reality oops there goes gravity
Not because the relationships are perfect in these. noooo, far from it. The producers try to incorporate every downhill-uphill-roll-clamber-tumble-glide-slide-climb they can into them. Maybe the angst identifies with our own, so we hope for and follow them on the rise in a relationship-on-the-patch, only to fall back into misery when one is moving to Chicago. or Metropolis. wherever.

There u go. Just as I was about to comment about how shallow people are going after the first good looking person they see (well, not going after, just definately having a higher interest rate *dry laugh*), I meet Stella in church and go thinking, "Who's that cute guy sitting next to her..."
*oops*
alrite, alrite, besides some what-not-somes (pronounced zomes) flying around in the air physical attraction does attract. (does satisfaction satisfact?)
I was there criticising the bimbo on tonight's episode of 'Lost' (if you saw it, she was the one with dangly earrings trying desperately to set off the fireworks), then when O.C. came on I couldn't help cheer Summer on despite the cheesy Spideyman kiss (if you havn't seen the show Rachel Bilson is a pretty girl, and pretty witty).
2nd *oops*
so how now? conform to societal standards of symmetrical features and rearrange my face? (not that it would help much: I'll just end up with a big nose on my forehead) renounce make-up and let my moustache grow?
maybe I'll paint my face luminous green and wear the sign
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
hoping to attract that guy. What's his name again, Stell?

beauty/beast, male/female
It was probably somebody who feared offending half the population that came up with 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'.
AKA no comments.
(I apologise, my statistics might not be accurate, but at least people do not feel they belong to a minority. I do not wish to offend.)

eh, Huihui ah, dun worry 'bout me. Have gotten over anyone that needs getting over ready AH. And no one else in mind LAH, thank goodness. enough tugs-of-war. thugs-of-war. random comments come from random sightings.

Just back from RCIA with dad! Met uncle Eric, his usual cheerful self, Praise God!And Na-Na, her usual friendly self! She was following me around 'cos I came out while the groups were having their sharing. (DOES Uncle Eric call her Na-Na?)Poon, Cheryl, good playing and singing!Din manage to catch you guys after the session though, will probably see you same time same place on saturday.
Uncle Paul gave the talk on 'The Communion of Saints'. According to dad it was more in depth than usual, tackling difficult issues, even for us Catholics, on purgatory and II Vatican Council's take on intercession.
Rather, I was interested in the response of the catechumens. The talk might be considered dry by standards of the growing learner, but I was quite pleased to see a number listening attentively, responding to the questions, bible passages, jokes. The Holy Spirit will plant in us the seed to listen well if it is His will.
Couldn't properly evaluate responses on the whole because I was not around to hear their own sharings, but I'll ask dad tomorrow.
I wonder...anti-virus softwares actually prevent access to blogs? I believe it's under the parental controls....because I can't access it on my PC but I am able to on my LT. The point being? I have some ideas.....some I dare not mention....

absence makes the heart grow fonder v.s. out of sight, out of mind
you decide.
it's not just about coming back. it's about taking a round-trip to the moon and returning to find that the world has rotated on it's axis 6 times before you returned.
it's about breathing in moon dust (which makes you feel a little lighter in the head).
it's about seeing a small blue ball on a midnite carpet scattered with gemstones.
hopefully I'm still immune to the flu virus. (opps did I give the ending away?)

baby's got it, JFK's got it, mum's got it. but not from me ah!
ooo watched Million Dollar Baby on the plane.
It's really amazing. I know: look at the name and you'll think "what kind of a show is this?!" plus when u find out it's about boxing it'll most probably put u off more.
I'm not a boxing fan, at all, but this show is.....well I can't, won't, give it away. simply amazing. It's one of those shows which the less you know going in to watch it the more you'll come out enlightened.
It's great being back! Thanks to the wonderful ones who met me at the gate yesterday!
(oh, I've got no HP wif me. my old contract is up)

flight's tomorrow at 1830. can't wait to see you all!

May all who need comfort and prayer at this moment in time find Him who is comfort. Lord, hear our prayer.
